New Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck has promoted and demoted each of the two men who were finalists for the job he won, as well as making a litany of other changes to the department's command staff during his first week on the job, the department announced.
Beck has promoted Deputy Chief Michel Moore (one of three chief finalists) to become one of the LAPD's three assistant chiefs, while demoting the second finalist, Assistant Chief Jim McDonnell, who drops a notch to deputy chief in charge of detectives.
An LAPD announcement spells out the changes.
