N.C. Deputy Wounded, Suspect Arrested

A man is in custody this morning after a manhunt in Statesville, N.C., which left a sheriff's deputy wounded and the opening of two schools delayed.
Statesville police say the subject of the manhunt, William Welton Jr., was taken into custody about 7 a.m., in a neighborhood off Broad Street.
He had been on the run since midnight, police say, when he allegedly drove through a checkpoint in Wilkes County.
