Virginia Chief Resigns After DUI Arrest

Alexandria Police Chief David Baker has resigned, following his DUI arrest almost a week ago, the Alexandria Gazette Packet reports.
In an interview after the announcement of the chief's resignation, the chief's attorney indicated that Baker intends to plead not guilty. Because of recent changes to the Virginia code strengthening sentencing guidelines, Baker is facing a mandatory five-day jail sentence and a six-month requirement for him to use an ignition interlock device.
