American Red Cross of Greater Chicago Seeks Local Heroes

January 29, 2009  |

Not all heroes wear capes but they all have one thing in common; they make a big difference to someone. Heroes are mothers, fathers, siblings, teachers, nurses, emergency responders, servicemen and women, neighbors, strangers, friends, and youth.

The American Red Cross of Greater Chicago is looking for community heroes, including law enforcement officers, to honor at its 2009 Heroes Breakfast. The Heroes Breakfast is generously presented by W.W. Grainger, Inc. Kirkland & Ellis LLP is the Breakfast Sponsor.

To nominate your hero fill out a nomination form at www.chicagoredcross.org/heroes. Nominations are due no later than February 6, 2009.

The Heroes Breakfast honors local people for acts of great bravery, dedication, and service to the community. The American Red Cross of Greater Chicago is seeking law enforcement nominees who are a professional police officer(s) or related law enforcement official(s) who acted above and beyond the call of duty, exhibiting heroism either in response to an emergency situation or through an ongoing commitment to the community. This hero award is sponsored by CDW Corporation.

CBS 2 is the television media sponsor. The Chicago Tribune Media Group is the print media sponsor. NES Rentals is also one of this year's award sponsors.

The American Red Cross of Greater Chicago serves more than 8.6 million people in Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, and Will counties through the support and generous contributions of individuals, corporations, foundations, and the United Way.
