The award-winning documentary “Drug Wars: The Colombianization of Mexico” will be shown at TREXPO East Tuesday Aug. 26 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

“Drug Wars” is the story of how drug cartels now control the U.S.-Mexico border and threaten to take control of the Mexican government. The film details the connection between the cartel and U.S. gangs and how they control human trafficking and move drugs into the United States.

To make “Drug Wars,” director Gary “Rusty” Fleming shot footage and conducted interviews and research along the Mexican border for more than three years. The result is a powerful film that exposes in graphic detail the story behind the headlines.

The screening of “Drug Wars” will be followed by a question-and-answer session with director Fleming and PoliceMag.com Gangs columnist Richard Valdemar, retired from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
