The rest of the world can take a flying leap. This is the United States of America. Men and women died for our freedon, not so some left wingers in the "world court" can tell us what to do. Go Texas...

jparedes @ 7/17/2008 3:01 PM

This is insane - we are a Free and Sovereign Nation. We have laws in place and we live by them. To have the UN tell us what to do is just like your neighbor coming into your house to tell you how to run your family life.
The UN has no right or place to stick their noses into our affairs.
Shame to those US citizens who support the UN position.
What happened to the Land of the free and the home of the brave?

colonelbwalton @ 7/17/2008 4:06 PM

Gentlemen and Ladies I spent 27 years defending our liberties as a member of the United States Armed forces. I was a military police officer and EST commander. I have never seen the UN do anything that benefitted the United States. The U.N. was created by Communists to prosecute world conquest using the quest for peace as a weapon. Their goal is a socialist world government and the destruction of liberty. It may well come to past as so many of our people cannot reason for themselves. My oath is and has been since I was 18 to support and defend the Constitution and liberty no matter the cost. Liberty is expensive, bought with the blood and lives of free and brave men and women, but it is worth the price.

We need to get out of the U.N.
We also need to tell the U.N. where to get off and where to shove that Liberal agenda.
The U.N. also wants to ban guns in OUR country, the UN is an Evil Empire that should be abolished.

tonypcman @ 7/18/2008 5:31 AM

The UN IS PURE EVIL!!! Those that are not American Citizens have in their pea brains, that if they come here and do bad stuff that they will be protected under the UN? PUHLEAZE!! I am a God-Fearing Christian, and totally believe that if a person murders another, they should be punished. God's Law says it, and so do our laws! If Texas concedes to the UN, then all those that died for our freedom will have been in vein, and personally, I wouldn't be able to live with that! Bravo to all of you that are taking a stand! God bless all of you that have fought for this country, and its freedoms! You are in my thoughts, in my prayers, and in my heart.

bobd2623 @ 7/18/2008 5:32 AM

If someone comes to the US and breaks our laws they should expect to suffer the consequences. If I were in other countries they would do the same for me.

c1ogden @ 7/18/2008 5:32 AM

Who the hell does the UN think they are that they can "order" a sovereign U.S. state to do "ANYTHING". Why does the U.S. even allow these turds to meet on our soil? If we had a decent president he would be right in their face explaining, loudly and clearly, that the U.S. doesn't TAKE orders, it GIVES them!

The government of Mexico has both overtly and covertly been doing all it can to subvert the sovereignty of our country for decades. Policies such as so called "dual citizenship" and actively encouraging and in some cases abetting the ongoing invasion over our southern border by its citizens who then send billions back to into the Mexican economy from money they make while here illegally. All of you reading this probably know as much or more than I do regarding all they have done and are doing and the damage occurring to our infrastructure and culture that has been permitted and aided by successive administrations and congress. To yield to those who say we MUST adhere to this intrusive "world court/UN" order woud be another egregious step in the destruction of our hard won and preserved sovereignty. I say GO Texas, ignore this attempted international violation and subversion of our judicial system (such as it is) and execute these murderers.

stodolaj1 @ 7/18/2008 8:20 AM

The so-called world court is just another joke in the UN funny books. They have no standing in this matter and need to just mind their own business and leave us alone.

ROB ROY @ 7/19/2008 1:29 AM

The united nations court gives a stay for a convicted murder in TEXAS..HMMMM and your point is WHAT. Why do we put up with these idiots. make them pay thier rent or go some place like iran, libia, or any of those other places that still stone women to death!

pklawitter @ 8/4/2008 12:45 PM

Let me tell you what I see. I'm retired Navy, am in law enforcement as a second career, and am as conservative as you can get. And, like you, feel the UN needs to concentrate on world hunger. Unfortunately, as we continue to be dependent on foreign oil, and other countries hold billions in our assets, nations who band together (i.e. UN, OPEC, EU, etc.) can put an economic disaster on us. And with the trend toward a global economy and one world government, there MAY come a day when we will have to comply with a "world court". I try not to be a dooms-dayer, but we need to wake up to what this liberal congress is doing to this country and start demanding that our elected officials stop selling us down the road and start protecting and defending the US constitution like they swore to do!
