Philly PD Creates Special Casino Unit

Officials told the Philadelphia Inquirer that the unit would likely work in the same way that the department polices the stadium area and other popular attractions.

Dep. Commissioner Patricia Giorgio Fox announced this week that the Philadelphia Police Department is forming a special unit to cope with traffic and crimes associated with a proposed riverfront casino projects.

Officials told the Philadelphia Inquirer that the unit would likely work in the same way that the department polices the stadium area and other popular attractions.

The city has not determined how many officers will be assigned to the new unit.

The proposed SugarHouse Casino is expected to employ as many as 1,100 permanent workers.
