Returning to Portland, Ore., the 27th North American Police Soccer Tournament will be held September 7-9, hosted by the Police Activities League of Greater Portland and committee members from the Portland Police Bureau.
The first tournament was held in Vancouver, British Columbia, to promote camaraderie and sportsmanship among Canadian and American law enforcement officers within the forum of soccer competition. Since then, participating officers’ efforts have helped raise more than a million dollars for charities across America and Canada.
This year the event is expected to attract 45 teams with some coming as far away as the Bahamas. A total of between 650 and 700 sworn officers are expected to play in the tournament.
