An Oklahoma man was arrested after allegedly leading police on a chase, ditching his vehicle, fleeing on foot, and then making contact to report his vehicle stolen.

Oklahoma County Sheriff’s deputies say Joseph Jimenez failed to stop for a traffic violation and evaded officers by leading them down dirt roads in his white pickup truck. Dirt kicked up by the vehicles made pursuit difficult. When deputies reached the truck, the driver had already left the scene on foot.

Joseph Jimenez was arrested when he called police to report his truck stolen. Dispatchers recognized the description of the vehicle and advised the caller to meet at a specific intersection for a deputy to take a stolen vehicle report.

The man was arrested at the intersection, where a deputy recognized him from the morning chase. Jimenez had cuts on his face that suggested he had been running through the woods that led from where the truck was left earlier that day.

Deputies say Jimenez faces charges of driving under the influence, resisting arrest, and attempting to elude deputies.
