March 13, 2003  |

Elizabeth Smart returned to her family after having disappeared nine months ago from her Salt Lake City bedroom.

The now fifteen-year-old was found walking on a street just 15 miles from her parents' home with a husband and wife who are now in custody and charged with aggravated kidnapping.

Elizabeth was 14 when she vanished early on the morning of June 5. Her 9-year-old sister said Elizabeth was taken by a hunman who may have gotten into the house by cutting a window screen near teh back door. THe sister pretended to be asleep, and she said the gunman threatened to hurt Elizabeth if she didn't keep quiet.

Last month, Elizabeth's parents announced a new reward for information and asked for help in theeir search for a handyman known only as Emmanel. They released a sketch of the man.

Smart is now home with her parents and appears to be physically unharmed.
