The Federal Communications Commission's E-911 enforcement action regarding AT&T Wireless maps out a comprehensive deployment plan with specific deadlines for a national GSM wireless carrier.
The Association of Public Safety Communication (APCO)International agrees with the FCC's move.
In a letter to FCC Chairman Powell, APCO International President Thera Bradshaw and National Emergency Number Association President John Melcher said, "Our goal is to achieve full E-911 implementation for all carriers and PSAPs at the earliest possible date."
Added Bradshaw, "Taking action on this important safety issue forces all wireless carriers to renew their commitments to deploying this life-saving technology."
