Prosecutor Says Officer Dragged by Alleged Gang Member Will Never Recover

December 06, 2018  |

A prosecutor told a jury in Brooklyn on Wednesday that the NYPD officer who was struck and dragged by an alleged member of the Crips gang will never recover from his injuries.

Detective Dalsh Veve suffered catastrophic head and brain trauma when he was dragged from a stolen Honda Civic for three blocks in June 2017, according to the New York Post.

He still doesn’t know who his wife and little girl are, the prosecutor told a Brooklyn jury in opening statements on Wednesday.

Justin Murrell—the 15-year-old teen accused in the case—has pleaded not guilty to the charges. He was ordered to remain in custody.

While being dragged, Veve fired two shots, and one of them entered Murrell's mouth. Murrell reportedly walked to a nearby hospital where he was treated and released.

Meanwhile, colleagues transported Detective Veve to another hospital where he remained in critical condition in a coma.

Murrell reportedly had 11 prior arrests. He faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

Need to hang this punk. This officer, although still alive, will never really live again.

Should this mutt ultimately be found guilty, he should be sentenced to stay incarcerated until Detective Veve recovers and is able to return to duty...and if that never happens, as the prosecutor claims will be the case, so be it.
