Chicago police Supt. Eddie Johnson announced Tuesday that hundreds of additional officers will be put on the streets this week in neighborhoods wracked by shootings as the city reels from its bloodiest weekend this year.

The "strategic deployments" will add 430 officers to five South Side and West Side police districts: Calumet, Gresham, Ogden, Harrison and Austin.

The supplemental manpower will be increased to about 600 this weekend, though it’s not clear how long the deployments will last, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

About the only thing that this will create is more dead officers because the dear mayor who is so liberal that he stinks will want the officers to have empty guns so that they won't shoot any of his voters. SICKENING!!!!!!!!!!!

Wont work, cant do for any length of time, cost is too much and besides the city wont back up any enforcement action anyway. This is a political ploy just to look like the Mayor and the City is "taking action:. Too little, way too late in a city that is "cancerous" with complacent citizens and cops. This is what the "good citizens" of that city voted for and deserve sionce they do not support the police and any norms that most cities do. This is a result of several things, a citizenry who do not care about their community, combined with a city without backbone to support the police when they do their job and the cops giving up after being harassed, left out to dry when they did work, and not at all appreciated. The politicians and the "neighborhood organizers/BLM can be blamed for this result. If the citizens do =not care, the police do not care and the politicians do not do the right thing then this IS the result.

I could see additional officers making a difference if they are pro active especially against the gangs. Will the officers be pro active when the city has not backed them if the situation is controversial in the past? I doubt it as most are thinking Im not sticking my neck out because I saw what happened to those who did.
