VIDEO: Marshal Shoots Utah Defendant Who Rushed Witness, Feds Say

A U.S. marshal shot a defendant in a Utah federal courtroom Monday morning after the defendant rushed at a witness as his trial began, CNN reports officials said.

Siale Angilau, an alleged gang member charged with racketeering conspiracy, was shot several times at a Salt Lake City federal courthouse after Angilau attacked someone who was on the witness stand, Judge Tena Campbell said in a court document about the incident.

Campbell declared a mistrial, noting the shooting happened in front of jury members, who were "visibly shaken and upset."

Angilau is one of nine alleged members of the Tongan Crip Gang charged in a 2010 indictment with racketeering conspiracy. The indictment alleges Angilau committed several convenience store robberies in Salt Lake City and assaulted the stores' clerks from December 2002 to July 2007.

As bizarre as many Conspiracy Theories are like Deborah Tavares and the Iron Mountain Report. Or John Titor the Watch Tower in the Wilderness a time travel hoaxer who, had clues about the future or our present in his writings. Nobody is putting a Gun to anyone's head! You don't have to believe any Theory(ies)! It's called Freedom of Choice! The Biggest Gang right now Runs the Gov. the NWO!

Obama & Reid used Stalin and Mao tactics for the Bundy Ranch! Bring out armed people in full force, use drones and satellites. Then come on in later hard and fast. Free Speech zones??? What is this EAST GERMANY?

You can call it Anti-Gov propaganda if you want. But Tin Foil hat people don't use FORCE or Guns to make people fall in line! They give you a choice and free will! While the other gives you a choice at the muzzle of a GUN!

As Crazy as TFP are. They won't steal your land, or act like a NAZI and always insist on being "right!"

What the hell are you talking about?

DEADMAN @ 4/21/2014 5:04 PM

AJ is a typical example of people who have lived too long under the oppresive heel of obamas thug run society, and reads a story then rambles on in nonsensible rhetoric that has nothing to do with what he read, nothing at to do with the U.S.Marshal shooting the defendant. This can happen to you, also.

Someone is off their necessary medicine again.

it's about time some juries saw these AH's in action. Too bad they declared a mistrial, but yes, it would have affected the jury's decision. No word on how Mr. Angilau was wounded, but a fatal wound would have solved a lot of problems. Now, patch him up at taxpayer's expense, and bring him before a new jury in a wheelchair to show how nasty the government has been to him, so they can be merciful and set him free. Cynical? Me???

Capt. Crunch @ 4/21/2014 8:56 PM

The Marshal did a good job, he must have been a ex-cop.

Jack @ 4/22/2014 3:38 AM

The reporting is a bit behind. "Angilau WAS one of nine alleged members of the Tongan Crip Gang charged in a 2010 indictment with racketeering conspiracy." He died from his injuries.

tedb @ 4/22/2014 8:11 AM

Great...the Marshal saved future court costs and they won't have to Voir Dire a new jury! Regarding the first commenter above, I can only assume he/she is some form of whack-job who has no concept of reality and is definitely off the prescribed meds.

The guy WAS a Crip. Having dealt with the Crips in their infancy in South-Central Los Angeles I have long held the belief that the only good Crip is one that has assumed room temperature. Good work Marshall

Why was he not handcuffed? He is being given a fair trial he is a known felon and a gang member. He grabbed a weapon of expediency and went for the witness and maybe he was going to go for the judge. I worked in 36th district court in Detroit when I was a store detective and all suspects who were a danger were handcuffed and sometime shackled. Good job Marshall you did what you had to do to protect the witness and maybe the judge also.

Nightstalker @ 4/22/2014 3:51 PM

Hey tedb- Get your punk-ass out of here as you are a disgrace in Law-Enforcement calling people whackjobs or nutjobs as I always did and will HATE PUNK-ASS COPS or RETIRED PUNKS in Law-enforcement that likes to put others down or be TOUGH GUYS!!!!!!!!!
