Video: Chicago Cops May Lose Jobs Over Gang Video

VIDEO: Chicago Cops Detain Gang Member

Two Chicago Police officers may lose their jobs after an online gang video showed them detaining a subject. They have been accused of unlawfully detaining the gang member and lying about it to Internal Affairs.

The Chicago Police Board on Thursday evening is expected to decide the fate of officers Susana La Casa, 49, and Luis Contreras, 44. Police Supt. Garry McCarthy has recommended they be fired.

The 90-second video came to light in 2011 when WBEZ spotted it online. The officers have said they simply tried to give Miguel "Mikey" Castillo a ride home.

Looks to me as if the kid in the patrol car is hiding his face from his own fellow gang members so he is not seen in the video. And the others are not concerned about him - they seem to only want their 15 seconds of fame on the video. Look at me, look at me.

All I can hear and see is a bunch of gang-banger trash talking and gang signs being flashed by many. The young man in the back of the police vehicle appears to me to have been hurt or assaulted. It looks like the officers were just trying to get him out of there. He isn't handcuffed and he could have easily got out if he wanted to. It appears he didn't. Chicago PD. administrators should not cave into gangbanger BS.

I agree with you Tom - if I detain someone, they are handcuffed - epecially if they are in the back seat of my car - don't understand what Chicago IA sees that I don't..

I don't see why other countries want to distroy America when the USA is allowing gangsters to distroy America itself. People look down on cops who fight for justice. Whereas, the gangsters pry on the weak. How many of those bad azz gansters went to war to fight for the freedom we stand for. It's sad the Police Chief doesn't back up his own personnel. In LA, you would see that street full of radio cars and gangsters laying on the ground handcuff. Shame on CPD Brass!!!

I must have missed something, the cops were out numbered 20 to 1 and still kept their cool and did not appear to mistreat anyone. What are the bosses thinking?
