Citizens Help Calif. Cop After Gang Member's Gun Grab

March 11, 2013  |

Two citizens intervened to help a Stockton (Calif.) Police officer struggling with a gang member who had grabbed his service pistol.

Joseph Locaso spotted the officer struggling with Phyrun Dok, 28, in the parking lot of Albierto's Restaurant. When Locaso saw Dok grab the officer's gun, he jumped on him and pulled his arm off the gun.

"We're very fortunate a citizen saw what was going on and made the decision to get involved, because if that suspect was able to unholster that gun, we don't know what could've happened," Officer Joe Silva told News 10.

Exemplary actions by the citizens. It's good to read about step foreward, take action people such as this. Bless them and may their thoughtfulness be repaid, should they ever need help.

It's always great to hear that there is still good citizens out there that will help the police. Sounds like he stopped the gang banger from getting the gun and shooting the officer.

I hope the agency gives that man the recognition he deserves. This is defiantly a refreshing story.

Bravo

For an era that has sometimes forgoten to the two most important words (Thank You-Joseph Locaso )...These are the type of mentors needed today...There are allot more than many realize.

A certicate -coin from department along with a solid handshake would be nice for this man also...The ABC's of helping Admit-Believe-C-commit!

If I was that cop. I would take that guy out for a couple of beers.

Too often, especially here in CA, citizens will not get involved. LEO's should support CCW in CA as drastic budget cuts are slashing LE staffing and equipment; armed citizens are going to help deter crime, allow citizens to defend themselves and allow citizens to assist and overwhelmed LEO.

Kudos to Mr. Locaso.....Hey Rick....I got your back on that my brother!

Sadly, police chiefs (aka: politicians) keep insulting and calling citizens who wish to carry guns "criminals" and much worse. Honest citizens will come to the aid of officers. Relationships are being really strained...too many people's dogs being shot for no/little reason, traffice stop & search abuses shown on Youtube keep increasing, border patrol stops hundreds of miles inside the borders. All these are losing the support of people we need on our side. As Col. Dave Grossman says, there are always sheepdogs who run towards the problem instead of away, not always people in uniform...don't want to lose the civilian sheepdogs.
