Police in Mexico have announced the arrest of a Sinaloa drug cartel enforcer who prosecutors say ordered the 2009 attack on a drug treatment center in Ciudad Juarez in which 18 people were killed.

Jose Antonio Torres Marrufo, who was arrested in Leon in central Guanajuato with his bodyguard, is the suspected leader of the Gente Nueva gang, the armed wing of the Sinaloa cartel.

In the attack, patients were lined up against a wall and shot dead. The gunmen were targeting rival gang members which sometimes use clinics as safe houses, reports the BBC.
