Nationwide DEA Sweep Nets 541 Arrests, $11 Million

A massive nationwide sweep aimed at the associates of Mexican drug cartels has netted 541 arrests and almost $11 million for the Drug Enforcement Administration.

The DEA declined to give specific locations, yet Arizona, Atlanta, St. Louis, Denver, Detroit, San Antonio, San Diego, Chicago, Newark and Miami are key areas, reports MyFoxPhoenix.

The joint operation involved the DEA, ICE, U.S. Marshals, ATF, Border Patrol, and local agencies. Authorities called it "a robust and aggressive strike" against cartels that came as a result of the killing in Mexico of ICE Special Agent Jamie Zapata.
