The Greensboro faction of the Almighty Latin Kings and Queens has filed a civil rights lawsuit against the North Carolina police department, claiming unlawful racial discrimination, reports the News-Record.
The gang alleges the Greensboro PD has "continually harassed members since 2005 because of their race, color or national origin by filing numerous baseless charges against them, subjecting them to discriminatory traffic stops, non-consensual searches and false arrests that use excessive force."

Targeting criminal gang members. Sounds like good policing to me. "...because of their race, color or national origin". Right. Why don't we try, "...because of their actions such as robbing, stealing, shooting, stabbing and killing innocents and other gang members". There should be some type of truth in the story after all.

How sad for those poor picked on gangsters! I agree with OldLT's comments. A lot of truth flew out the window as political correctness came in the door and people became afraid to stand up and say that's enough. We can hope Greensboro will not give in and settle out of court. Just think of the precedent that would set for gangs all over the country.

The Southern Coalition for Social Justice is an organization specifically aimed at altering power relations. They have trained community activists to be checkpoint monitors in the Triangle to watch for racial profiling. They indicate they view social justice struggles from a human rights perspective. My only question is what about the rights of the people adversely impacted from gang member activities? Sounds like they are more into fear and hate mongering of law enforcement then they are concerned with anyone's rights. From there website "In an effort to build peaceful, nurturing communities, the Beloved Community Center, Pulpit Forum, and the Almighty Latin Kings and Queens Nation of Greensboro (ALKQN), are working together to address violence in Greensboro." Maybe they are trying to work out how they split Greensboro up for their enterprises.
