MS-13 Trial Begins With Footage of a 'Beat In'

A federal trial in Charlotte began today with a goal of convicting half a dozen MS-13 gang members from one of the broadest investigations in that city to weaken a gang one expert described as totally devoted to crime and violence, WSOC-TV reports.
The trial began with the airing of footage of prospective members being 'beaten in,' as an MS-13 initiation ritual where existing members kick and beat a recruit.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is protecting jurors who enter using a special tent so their identities are not known to the public. Los Angeles Police Department gang expert Frank Flores testified.
