Ballistic Vest Grant Deadline Approaching

The Bulletproof Vest Partnership (BVP) funds up to 50 percent of the cost of each ballistic vest purchased or replaced by law enforcement applicants. The entire BVP application and payment process occurs online. But the April 18 deadline is fast approaching.

The Bulletproof Vest Partnership (BVP) funds up to 50 percent of the cost of each ballistic vest purchased or replaced by law enforcement applicants. The entire BVP application and payment process occurs online. But the April 18 deadline is fast approaching.

Since 1999, more than 11,900 jurisdictions have participated in the BVP Program, with $173 million in federal funds committed to support the purchase of an estimated 450,000 vests.

Eligible law enforcement officers include police officers, sheriff’s deputies, correctional officers, parole and probation agents, prosecutors, and judicial officials. Applicants may select and purchase any ballistic or stab vest that meets applicable NIJ standards.
