Tupelo Police Officer Joseph Maher was released from North Mississippi Medical Center Tuesday morning, eight days after being critically wounded in a shootout.

Officer Kevin "Gale" Stauffer, 38, was killed during a robbery at BancorpSouth Monday. Officer Joseph Maher, 27, was injured and was at last check in critical condition, WAAY TV reports.
