Video: FBI Agent Charged Over Accidental Discharge on Dance Floor

An FBI agent involved in an off-duty accidental discharge of his firearm on June 3 has been charged Tuesday with one count of second-degree assault, according to CBS News.

Chase Bishop, who is based in the Washington Field Office, can be seen in a cell phone video doing a backflip, losing his sidearm in the process, and then accidentally discharging it as he picks it back up.

The shot struck another patron of the Mile High Spirits bar.

Bishop turned himself in to the Denver Sheriff Department on Tuesday morning after a warrant was issued for his arrest, according to Denver police.

Denver PD were awaiting the results of alcohol and drug tests before making an arrest, but because those results could take as much as another week to be returned, and because the district attorney’s office believes there is already sufficient evidence presented to proceed.

What an idiot and embarrassing! One of FBI's finest acting like a high school clown. He deserves to lose his job. I'm sure he would be competent as a mall cop.

This is tragic, of all the stupid things to do, alcohol and firearms, hes FBI and i hope he finds a new job

How does any prosecutor get Assault 2 out of an unintentional discharge? Where is the intent?

Talk about sticking your foot in your mouth twice, if he had used caution in picking up the gun this may have had a different outcome but he was no doubt intoxicated which already cuts his nose off to spite his face so he will be lucky to keep his job. I would fully expect to be terminated if that happened to me especially caught on video, thats the damning evidence right there.

He messed up. Any other LEO would have been held accountable too.

What a stupid "rookie" thing to do! Bad enough he just sticks his weapon in his pants without a secure holster, then he dances with it on and then even once he dropped it and it didn't go off (lucky for him) he accidentally discharges it picking it back up!.. What a goof and besides this local charge I hope the FBI dump his butt, obviously he does not make good decisions.
