VIDEO: Philly Police Training Emphasizes De-Escalation Tactics

INSTRUCTOR: See that man? See that man? He’s threatening people with a knife!

CHRIS BURY: In Philadelphia, this new police recruit is getting a taste of confronting a suspect that he may have to shoot. This training–in full protective gear–is known as a reality-based scenario.

RECRUIT: Sir, drop the knife!

CHRIS BURY: This is a lesson in defusing high-tension encounters….before they turn deadly. In Philadelphia, every officer gets 40 hours of this reality training to learn tactics other than lethal force…even when suspects are armed and dangerous.

SGT. KENNETH GILL: Is he threatening anybody right now?

SGT. KENNETH GILL: Is he killing anybody right now?

SGT. KENNETH GILL: So, do we have to turn around and jump right in there and take care of it ourselves?

Sir drop the knife? Really? I always find it hilarious when these hippie pos' want us to de-escalate somebody to kill us....

And it would be refreshing for our police to learn how to handle situations like those without resorting to deadly force like the Brits do. They don't hand deadly weapons to their police without them knowing how and when to use them.

That reminds me of that movie with Wesley Snipes in the future. You know, where every restaurant is a Taco Bell. The future police say that to him.. Sir, please drop the firearm as it may discharge and do bodily injury to someone.. Maybe it is time to go back to revolvers, with a shot of snake shot into the perps balls....

@Leonard yeah im sure your really up to date with police use of force policies. If it was up to you, you would probably disarm all police because they're "killing too many innocent people" or some bs right? Oh and by the way, not all police in the UK have guns.....i got an idea, ill give you a tazer, and ill have the knife and charge at you with it. We shall see how that works eh? Dont forget to tell me "sir stop trying to kill me please" 😂
