Off-Duty N.C. Officer Shot During Home Invasion

A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officer was wounded when two teenagers broke in to his southwest Charlotte apartment and opened fire early Sunday.

A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officer was wounded when two teenagers broke in to his southwest Charlotte apartment and opened fire early Sunday, reports the Charlotte Observer.

By Sunday evening, police had arrested Kevin Watson McClary, 19, and Mauricio Gabriel Salazar-Peiti, 17, for the break in earlier in the day. Police say the two shot Officer Jon Dunham during an attempted robbery about 6 a.m. Dunham's son was also in the apartment and was not hurt.

McClary and Salazar-Peiti now face multiple charges with additional counts pending, reports the Charlotte Observer.

Dunham has been on the force since 2008. He was listed in stable condition on Monday.
