VIDEO: Ind. Cop Ambushed, Shot In Head
Fortville (Ind.) Police Officer Matt Fox plans to return to full duty in January about six months after his harrowing shooting that was captured on patrol car video.
This year, Officer Fox participated in a holiday program he started several years ago called "Shop With Public Safety" where he took needy children shopping for gifts.
Officer Fox had attempted to pull over a white Volvo on July 27 for a busted tail light, when the driver, James Roscoe Lockhart III, instead led him on a pursuit. Lockhart pulled over, exited the Volvo, and fired 12 rounds at Officer Fox with a .45-caliber handgun. One of the rounds hit Officer Fox's arm and ricocheted to his forehead, reports WISH.
