Citizen Panel Questions Portland Chief's Handling of Whistleblower Case
July 15, 2011

A citizen advisory panel questioned the Portland Police Bureau's internal investigation of a recruit's claim that her field training officer used excessive force.
The panel questioned the internal investigation of accusations brought by Lindsay Hunt. Apparently, the investigation was kept in the precinct, and the Internal Affairs division wasn't aware of Hunt's claims.
"It seems to me the allegations involved were fairly serious. I just can't wrap my head around why it went to the precinct, why the precinct commander was even able to make that decision," said Michael Bigham, committee vice-chair.
