Rookie Mississippi Officer Shot and Killed By Detainee
August 08, 2010
|
Officer Glen Agee, who had spent two months with the Jackson (Miss.) PD, was fatally shot while chasing a detainee who had escaped from his patrol car and ran into the woods, the Sun Herald reports.
Agee was shot twice in the face after struggling with the detainee who he was transporting in the back of his patrol car to a detention facility. It is suspected Agee was shot with his own service weapon.
The detainee, who was handcuffed and belted in, had asked the officer to roll down the window because he was having trouble breathing. He escaped while Agee was stopped at a red light.
The suspect was recaptured 45 minutes later with the help of a police helicopter.
