NYPD Considers Equipping All Patrol Officers with TASERs

The New York Police Department is considering giving stun guns to officers who walk the city's streets, a police spokesman said on Wednesday, prompting calls for restraint from a human rights group.
Spokesman Paul Browne said police supervisors started carrying a compact version of the stun gun, which incapacitates people with a 50,000-volt jolt of electricity, last week.

For a large city who have had there fair share of Police shooting , and the premier police force in the nation , it is unbeliveable that they would Now consider using a proven nonletal force.

It would be nice if, for once, someone at Amnesty International would take the time to actually learn something about a topic before they go shooting their mouths off about it. Instead, they seem determined to simply oppose anything and everything that Police officers do. If anyone needs to show "restraint," it's these clowns and their misguided brethren at the ACLU.
