Driving the New Patrol Cars

November 2, 2012

The chance to get behind the wheel of the new patrol cars proved to be an opportunity I just couldn't pass up. So I'm passing along a few driving notes about the cars. I've never pursued a suspect through a blind alley or attempted a PIT Maneuver at high speeds, so take what I have to say with a grain of salt.

Vehicle Tests: Michigan Vs. California

The Michigan State Police and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department provided Police Magazine with preliminary results from the vehicle tests conducted in September and October of pursuit-rated patrol vehicles for the 2013 model year.

Michigan State Police Release 2013 Motorcycle Test Results

The police agency tested four models, including the BMW R1200-RTP, the Harley Davidson Road King (FLHP), the Harley Davidson Electra Glide (FLHTP), and the Victory Commander I.

Michigan State Police Release 2013 Patrol Vehicle Test Results

The Michigan State Police (MSP) has released preliminary results from its testing of 2013 model-year police vehicles. MSP’s tests included acceleration and speed, braking, and vehicle driving dynamics.
