Crowd Records Violent Confrontation, Good Samaritan Comes to Officer's Aid
A Dallas man rushed to aid an officer involved in a violent struggle with a resistive subject—while other bystanders stood aside and captured video of the incident on their mobile phones. Steve Mabry was driving past the unidentified officer and the subject—identified as 30-year-old Tetus Powell—as the man was trying to take the officer's TASER.

Illegal Immigrant Opens Fire on Arkansas Officer at Traffic Stop
Newly released dashcam video shows an incident over the weekend in which 29-year-old Luis Cobos-Cenobio—reportedly an illegal immigrant—opened fire on Corporal Brett Thompson of the Washington County (AR) Sheriff's Office. According to Fox News, Corporal Thompson tried to initiate a traffic stop in Tontitown, located just outside Fayetteville. Ohio Police Disarm Suicidal 11-Year-Old Knife Wielding Boy
Officers with the Grove City (OH) Police Department responded to a call of an 11-year-old boy wielding two butcher knives stolen from a local Dollar Tree store, and holding the knives to his throat threatening suicide. Newly-released video from the Division of Police shows an officer sneaking up behind the boy and grabbing his arms.

Nebraska Deputies Buy 2 Child Safety Seats for Mom they Stopped for Speeding
Dash-cam footage shows two Nebraska deputies installing two brand new child safety seats in an SUV at a traffic stop.Deputy Jason Jones had pulled over the vehicle for speeding when he noticed that the two children in the back seat were not in proper safety seats. He radioed for help, and soon thereafter, Deputy Jessica Manning arrived at the scene, with two newly purchased child safety seats. Off-Duty Rookie Fired Over Confrontation with Uniformed Officer
A rookie officer with the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police has been fired over a confrontation with a uniformed officer with the Swissvale (PA) Police Department. A witness caught the incident on cell phone video as 25-year-old Sidney Bates—who had just been sworn in with the PPD in May—got into a dispute with an officer in the street. After an elderly man fell and injured himself last month police officers and firefighters in Pembroke Pines (FL) responded to render aid. One officer spotted a piano and proceeded to play "Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey to comfort the family.

Body Camera Video Released of Non-Fatal OIS in Virginia
Officer Jeremy Durocher of the Portsmouth (VA) Police Department has been charged with aggravated malicious wounding—and a related firearms charge—for an officer-involved shooting that occurred in October 2017. Body camera footage reveals that Durocher repeatedly shouted to other responding officers, "He has a gun! He has a gun!" before the shooting.

Body Camera Video Released of Fatal California OIS of Ax-Wielding Man
Prosecutors have determined that two officers with the San Jose (CA) Police Department were justified in fatally shooting an ax-wielding man in January 2018, according to the Mercury News. Officers with the Chamblee (GA) Police Department responded on Monday to an armed robbery at a pharmacy just seconds after the crime had been committed. An officer gave chase on foot while another drove up and—knowing the clear threat presented by the armed suspect—bumped into the offender with his squad car.

New Texas Law Requires Students to View Video on Safely Interacting with Police
The "Community Safety Education Act" requires all high school students in Texas to watch an educational video—entitled "Flashing Lights"—to teach them how to safely interact with a police officer during traffic stops. The goal of Senate Bill 30—passed by the 85th Texas Legislature—is to define the behavior and expectations of citizens and law enforcement during traffic stop interactions.

Oregon Man Tries to Grab Officer's Gun in Courtroom Confrontation
An Oregon man—identified as 27-year-old Patrick Lemmon—abruptly got up from his seat and attempted to grab the gun of an officer sitting just feet to his left. The incident was captured on video made public on YouTube by The Oregonian. Lemmon was seated in a Lincoln County (OR) courtroom without any sort of restraints, because a judge had denied deputies' request. California Highway Patrol Release FLIR Video of 2016 Pursuit Ending at Naval Air Station Lemoore
A 2016 police pursuit that ended at Naval Air Station Lemoore was captured on FLIR video that was recently released and posted on YouTube. In the video, the driver of a Jeep Grand Cherokee being pursued by the California Highway Patrol crashed into the tail end of an F/A-18 airplane at the military installation.
