The Sheriff has the authority and OBLIGATION to take action to protect the citizens legitimately in his juridiction from the criminal activites of those who are there illegally. In fact just being there illegally is a crime in itself, or at least it used to be. Illegal aliens do NOT have the same civil rights a US citizen has. They broke the law when they came over the border without adhering to procedures established under our immigration laws. Only those blinded by the current atmosphere of political correctness, or those that have more subversive agendas, can deny the fact that in the Sheriff's area of responsibility, the vast majority of illegal aliens are Hispanic. Verifying whether or not an indivdual is legitimately in this country is not racial profiling. It is realistically enforcing the law and instead of filing law suits protesting and whining about it, they should be applauding his contributions to their own individual security and to our national security.
