A chicken farmer used science to find the canine responsible for raids on his henhouse.
Malcolm Jones of West Tisbury, Mass., sent dog hairs to a California crime lab for DNA analysis. Checking against hair samples from Jones’ neighbor’s three dogs, the lab found a match. A malamute-border collie mix named Sabrina who lives next door to Jones was the culprit.
Sabrina’s owner, Karin Magid, could be ordered to reimburse Jones for as much as $50 per chicken. Jones says he will take Magid to small claims court for the $400 cost of the DNA tests.
“I want this to send a shock wave across the dog community,” Jones told The Washington Times.
