Teachers with guns

This week's poll was about the Harrald School District allowing teachers with licenses to carry concealed weapons on campus.

I am all for it. We know the teacher has no felony convictions, and no serious misdemeanor convictions in ten years. We know he went to a class that is state mandated and the state says what will be taught. We know he qualified with his weapon during that time. And we know the state feels comfortable enough with his carrying a weapon to let him have it around town, at the mall, at the museum, and almost anywhere else he wants to go.

So why not let him carry it in the school? I can think of no reaons to stop it, and the spate of recent school shootings gives me a reason to want teachers armed. I am recommending it for my school district here also. After all, I send my most valued possession to the school and expect the teacher to care for him and defend him. It only makes sense that we let the teacher have the means to protect my child from harm.

Arming teachers....

Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!...we need to arm our teachers...

I had mentioned this a while back up on the boards (I believe in the old forum). I agree big brother. If criminals don't know who's got a gun, they will think twice before going to a school of innocent kids, torturing them, and killing them. SWAT, SOG's, SRT's, etc...are only so fast. We all know it only takes seconds to create mass casualties. At least the school has half a chance with having armed personnel on deck,

How long ago was it that the U.S. found a terror suspect with building plans of six of our U.S. schools? Red flag folks. Don't let another 9/11 happen with our young'uns.

If we can trust teachers to teach our children to be good citizens and learn what they need to know to make itin life, then we can trust them to make good decisions with being able to conceal carry.

Some of these gangs will also think twice about causing trouble at school as well.

ARM TEACHERS! A certification program for carrying a concealed weapon can be created for public teachers if that would help parents be comfortable with this.

Arming teachers works for me; problem is, how many would want to be armed? Seems that many are die hard liberals who believe all the ills of the world are the result of firearms, and all you have to do is get rid of them for the world to live in peace and harmony.

Which, in a way, is pretty demoralising. That so many teachers may be that naive.

I am honestly afraid to sit in a classroom today. I am not "school age" in a sense, but I still want to go to community colleges. And when I had to recently, well, I just kept looking around nervously. You never know.

But the problem is coming from inside the school, not some outside criminal gang element.

More teachers would probably want to be "equiped" with broader rights to punish rude children, rather than just ask for guns. Disrespect and lip chased most serious teachers out of the classroom long before this school shooting thing started.

But I guess some people would rather think of it as some kind of outside problem. Then the kids could say, the teachers have guns to protect us from the bad guys. Well, the bad guys in the school shooting scenario are always kids. And so many of the kids hate school and the teachers. They would rather be anywhere else and maybe they should be sent somewhere else. Why do we keep them in school all day? What percentage of time is actually spent learning "information?" Practically none. I think there's a lot of kids who just aren't learning anything. They shoot in desperation to escape their torture.

They'll never fix these overcrowded, miserable, torturous schools. They might as well arm the teachers with bazookas.

Every time there is a school shooting I get my hopes up that it was my old leftist college. I'm always disappointed tho.

Teachers With Guns - I'm for It

Yep, I personally think it is a great idea - I have no problem with law abiding citizens in any setting CCW. Law abiding citizens are not the problem to begin with.

CCW holders have to be of legal age, have some training, pass background checks, and meet any other requirements of their respective states. These are the good guys! I would even be for giving additional training for teachers who want this type of carry. This is not a case of "sleeping with the enemy." The quicker an incident is resolved, the fewer people will be hurt.
