Ankle holsters?

Hey I am a security officer and I currently carry a Beretta Model 96 or a Sig Sauer 226 .40S&W or Ruger P94 9mm depending on my mood. Anyway I am thining of either going with a Bersa Thunder or a CZ 83 to carry as a backup weapon. Anyway I was thinking of going with an ankle holster. Do you guys think they are ok to use as far as not weighing the leg down too much and do they flop around too much if you were to run like if you were chasing someone? And if ankle holsters are ok. Do you guys think that one of those Uncle Mike's ankle holsters are ok? I just thought maybe I would go with one of those since it has the calf strap for more support from coming loose. And if you don't think that is a good one then what do you recommend. Apprciate your thoughts. I know alot of you carry a backup pistol so that is why I decided to come on here and ask.

YOU NEED TO READ THE ARTICLE, IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY THAT I POSTED LAST MONTH ON THE COP THAT NEEDED HIS BACKUP WEAPON WHEN A STUDENT WAS ATTEMPTING TO KILL HIM. BETTER TO HAVE A FLOPPY ANKLE HOLSTER THAN TO NOT HAVE A BACKUP WEAPON WHEN YOU NEED ONE.

RE: Ankle holsters?

I never liked ankle holsters. They tend to cut off the circulation to my foot, and I always worry about them sliding down (which actually happened a few times). When I do wear one I wear it with a full size boot, and tuck the bottom of the holster into the boot. That way it doesn't move if I run. If you do go with an ankle holster, it is inclement upon you to practice drawing it. The only thing worst then needing a gun is needing one and not having it. Next is needing one, having one, but being unable to get to it.

Another factor with the ankle holster is what type of pants are you going to be wearing? Tight pants are a no-no. Jeans aren't overly ideal either. You need pants which are flared enough not to imprint the gun, and light enough you can effortlessly pull up over the gun while reaching down to get it from a variety of positions (sitting, standing, lying down, on your side, on your back fighting a person, etc.

Before carrying it, make sure the laws in your state allow you to carry a back-up weapon. For instance, in Virginia an Armed certified security officer in possession of a valid CWP can NOT carry a concealed weapon while on duty in uniform. Go figure.
