Police Officers Exempt from Knife Laws?

Does anyone know of laws exempting police officers from possession of automatic knives? Federal or local? Especially here in California. I know that dealers here will sell to LEO but I would like to know what the specific exception is. I am not able to find a specific law that allows this.

I dunno if there is a specific law; if there is, it'll vary from state to state. However, a dealer, like any other merchant, reserves the right to sell, or not sell, whatever he wants to whomever he wants to. So if he doesn't want to sell a knife to someone in a certain occupation, he's pretty much covered.

I did hear a few months ago that the Custom's department was trying to pass some type of general order or legislation which would ban all knives that can be opened by one hand. But I don't believe that's gone through as yet.
