Life ain't over until it's over...
Wanna help your community and wear a badge?
You are not too old to serve on a Police or Sheriff reserve unit. They take applications, and test you, but as long as you don't mind working for free, you can volunteer your time to have a heck of a lot of fun...and stories to tell your grankids.
Get in to search and rescue (that is where I will be headed after my career ends in about 30 and some odd years). They take anyone that can learn. You can fly and be a spotter, learn and teach CPR and First Aid, save lives and go home feeling great.
You are not too old for a life of public service. In Michigan, the Oakland County Sheriff's Department just had (a while back) a Deputy graduate from the Police Academy at the age of 60.
Volunteering time might be better than a job because you can pick your hours, and your family will be happy about that.
Just some suggestions. Good luck
