If you had this, what would you think?

Read this through. If you had these three dreams…how would you interpret them?

1st dream (night one)

You are riding in a patrol car in an unknown jurisdiction at night with an unknown partner (you are in a new area and have no idea where or how you got there). A “B&E” call comes in (breaking and entering) and you respond to a building that is familiar to you, but then again…it is not. Bystanders are near-by watching a bunch of young, kids steal stuff from the building which was damaged by an unknown means. An elderly bystander suddenly is in your face and starts talking to you, “Hello! Glad to see you”, and the conversation drifts off because the kids are running out of the building…with nothing in their hands, except guns. They turn on you…It’s not a B&E call…

An intense fire fight breaks out…you stand in front of the elderly person because you have a vest and they don’t. Bullets go right through you, but you can’t feel it nor does it hurt you. You return fire, and your partner is hit, but alive. You are screaming for back-up over the radio, you grab a shotgun, and then the scene becomes familiar. You know the building, but the kids you still don’t know, and you still don’t know your partner. All the teenagers (one sniper from the building), three outside and one still inside, are shot graphically dead. You can see blood, their insides, and you explode the sniper’s head.

Back-up arrives from another jurisdiction…you tell them “I don’t know how many there are! Grab your rifles! We’ve got snipers!”

The scene disappears and you are standing over two, dead teenagers. One is wearing a black and white hoodie with blue jeans, all blood stained. The other is wearing a black and red hoodie with blue jeans and his stomach is ripped open. They both have several bullet holes in them. They are twins…………….

You go back to your partner who is suddenly well again. Then you wake up exhausted.

2nd dream (second night)

You are on patrol again, running through a big city at night (you don't know the city). You don’t know where you are. You’re in a pursuit but don’t know who you’re trying to catch. Cops keep popping in and out of buildings and it looks like they are doing the same thing you are. Everyone has their guns out. The town is empty….except for the building you dreamt about the night before.

You get to that same building. Again, a fire fight breaks out. You see a hail of bullets coming your way, but you do not feel them or nor do they hurt you, but they hit you.

You return fire…suddenly you’re not alone, and the entire police force returns fire. Your back up is already there and is fierce. You don’t know the cops who are fighting with you and they are fighting with some phenomenal fire power.

You wake up freaked out.

3rd dream (third and final night of the dreams)

You’re off duty. You’re standing in your civies by a water channel with the big city skyline in the background. It is day time, although it is cloudy and a dark day. You are looking up to the sky…crying. You’re crying for the city because you know it is going to be destroyed.

You don’t know what city it is. The fire fight breaks out…one more time, and before you go through that part of the dream again….

You wake up…and you stay awake with chills up and down your spine wondering WTF?

-------------

You have had this before, dreaming the same dream for several, consecutive nights. The last time you did this you dreamed a dream (combat related) for 7 nights in a row. Seven months later...The United States suffers the biggest terrorist attack in its history. Your situation in life when you dreamed three nights in a row is very similar to when you dreamed the other dreams 7 nights in a row.

So what would you think about something like this? I know..."Weeeeeiiiiiiiird Truesdell!"

How many of you are willing to take a shot at interpreting this out of seriousness though? Don't be shy. A lot of people do this, and it is normal. I'm just willing to ask the question on a discussion board (the bold one I guess...lol).

This is a "true story" situation though. I know who has experienced this. I am wondering if you all think that this has some spiritual meaning and is a "warning" type dream so to speak.

Any thoughts?

I don't know about psychic warnings. When you think about it, somewhere down the line there will always be a catastrophe so you can attribute prophecy to anything. As far as the dream goes, and baring in mind I'm not actually a psychologist I just act like one on the internet, I'd say it shows the dreamer is afraid of having to take a life. In each dream the dreamer didn't seem to care to much about taking rounds, and even the other officers were ok after the firefights. Civilians as well were ok. But the actors? They were dead and in graphic ways. There seems to be a sense of futility in the dreams, the dreamer wants to save lives, not take them. Yet, the lives are lost nonetheless. She can not save the teen shooters, can not save the city.

If the dreamer has been on the force for a few years I'd hazard a guess she's gotten to the point where she realizes she can't save everyone, and it weighs heavily on her mind. I'd also suggest she talk to a professional. It would be a tragedy if she finds herself hesitating in a lethal force incident because of these dreams.

Or, she should lay off the pepperoni and anchovie pizza before bed...could be it's just a dream and means nothing much; ya never know!

dreams...

Hey Wolfva...

How do you know that the dreamer is a girl? I know who this person is...just curious how you do ;-)

But your "interpretation" is interesting...I say that because you looked at it from a worldly "psychologist" perspective, not a spiritual one. The "dreamer" gave me an entirely different interpretation based on a spiritual perspective. That is the interesting part...one way there is a certain medium that generalizes into one meaning...the other way, the meaning generalizes into another entirely different meaning.

Do you have combat experience (not just war, but street combat or fighting for either your safety or for the safety of others)?

And this question goes for warriors all over...with terrorism being a "religious" war...jihad...do we fight it with a worldly perspective or with a spiritual one? Keep the answers to yourself unless you want to share it...but I suggest you don't.

I am just a thought prevoker...that's all. I can't expect everyone to sit up at night an think of strategic battle plans like I sometimes do for fun...but at least I can chit-chat about it for shits and giggles.

Very easy Rache. Most men don't talk about their dreams, unless it involves large breasted women. No large breasted women noted in the dream, hence odds are it's a woman <G>.

I have a bit of street combat experience up to and including shots fired.

I think we have to address jihad from a worldly perspective and not a spiritual one. If you take it from a spiritual view, then you may want to understand the jihadi and perhaps convert him to your spiritual point of view. Or perhaps even join his. He, on the other hand, wants only to kill you or convert you. There is a story about one of the people beheaded by al Qaeda a few years ago, apparently this guy 'converted' in the hopes of being spared. The jihadi's praised Allah for his conversion, then told him since he was now a Muslim he understood why it was an honor to be a martyr to Allah and sliced off his head anyways. Not true of the veracity of this story, but it fits 'radical' Islam.

naughty dreams...

Howdy again...

The dream actually comes from two people, and men do talk about their dreams (when asked usually), but I understand where you are coming from. The dream is a combination of two people (actually both male and female) that are similar, except the one had the same type dream three nights in a row. It was an intriguing case so...I brought it up. That's the mystery behind that...

I think jihad should be looked from a spiritual perspective because it is just as predictable what the extremist will do. But a worldy view is much easier to reflect what is going on for most folks. I don't believe that looking at anything from either a spiritual view or a worldly view is the same as agreeing with the ideals whom ever the person is analyzing. Looking at the jihad movement with a spiritual view does not constitute a being one to agree with what the extremist say or do. If we don't keep options open, and keep turning the puzzle piece in new directions...we are limiting the answers and tools to help curb the movement. But that is just my opinion on the matter. I am actually more interested in...

Who in the hell do you dream about with big breasts? (LMAO). Ever had the naked dream where it was just a gun belt and badge? Wait...let me answer that...you did, and there was a set of tits somewhere in there...lol

Too bad we might get kicked off for telling our raunchest sex dreams, or at least the IAD would wonder WTF....but I enjoy keeping people on their toes...that's why I am the bold one.... :-)

Somehow I got this thread on two opposite topics in one post...sex and terrorism...lol.

What if we look at that from a spiritual view? What would we get?

Actually, I don't have raunchy dreams. At least, not since puberty. <sigh> Never had the naked dream either. Have had the dream where I'm in my undies and back in school. Will it ever stop! <sob> Lately my dreams have involved fighting zombies. No big secret why...just finished reading "World War Z" about a zombie infestation and am playing 'Left 4 Dead', a first person shooter game where you're fighting, yes, Zombies. Pretty fun game actually. For the record? None of the zombies have big boobies.

I think I misunderstood where you were coming from inre. spiritual and worldly. You're right though.

Ah, dreams. For some reason I experience so much peace when I dream. I resolve things that are bothering me.

A recurring dream that I have is, for example, that this man (a real person) who committed all these violent sexual crimes is finally caught. Last night (in my dream) I talked to the local fire department about him and they magically captured him within half an hour and everyone lived happily ever after! Boy that was easy, and everything turns out exactly the way I would like it to be. Its like I can live another life in my dreams. I actually wake up believing that he was caught.

When I drink different substances, like Cokes and coffees I have more vivid dreams.

You poor baby...Play Grand Auto Theft (but don't kill any cops)...maybe the nasty whores in it will spark some fun...lol.

I bought "Mogadishu" (Army shoot'em up game) but I never have got around to playing a full round of it. I shoot at real targets instead...lol.

I fight like hell in my dreams...lol. If I am really tired, I don't dream. Very rarely do I dream the same dream a few nights in a row. I can't drink caffeine more than a few times a day anyway, so drinking that before or near bedtime never happens. I do tea and hope it'll relax me as long as kids don't carry on in the background too long...lol.

I dream about all kinds of stuff so there is no one particular thing that I dream about.

How many LEO's find it relaxing to dream? How many of ya think it stresses you out?

Have any LEO's used that down time (right before you fall asleep) to visualize training and scenarios to improve your tactical skills? If you haven't...try it.

wet dreams!

oH! mY Bold Lady!

Who says men don't talk about their dreams...why the other day I had a very wet one:

I was standing on the edge of a hot tub stark naked, dancing for the ladies with a good brew in hand

then my drunk ass fell in the tub. At least I got to wake up to some chick I brought home that night (whatever her name was)...lol.

It helps to stay sober before you crash for the night too.

And to answer the question...dreaming isn't either more or less stressful for me. Even if I have a bad day on the street seeing nasty stuff. Most cops get immune to stuff the see, but only every now and then can things become bothersome to me as I would expect others. THose are days I listen to my favourite music before dozing off.

the art of sleep

Hi Quassia13,

Ok that was funny (your wet dream). Yes, I would have to agree that alcohol and lots of friends might end up being a night to remember for some. I would think music would be a safer option...lol.

It's hard to explain where the "Hispanic" or "African-American" side came from when you and your spouse are the same nationality, but not the ones mentioned above...LOL
