Do you believe in Hate Crimes Laws?

Do you believe in having laws to protect blacks and gays, for example, or do you think that it just limits freedom of expression?

there is no reason that a law that protects one human being ,should not protect ALL, to attack some one because they are black or gay any different than attacking a muslim or an amish person because of there religous beliefs. we have more laws on the books than we enforce now and the courts are behind weeks too months. I truthfully believe that a crime is a crime no matter who commits it. as you well know thats not true. if our  law states 5 yrs for burglary then you should get 5 yrs. not get off because mommy or daddy has more money. first offenders get half that sentence, rich or poor all the same.

Hate Crimes

To make a crime more serious because it is committed against a member of a specific class of people only serves to minimize the value of the lives of everyone that is not a member of that class. That is wrong. A crime is a crime. Penalties should be uniform regardless of whether the victim is a member of a "protected class" or not.
