This all depends on whether you are hanging your gear from a regular belt or an actual duty belt. If you have a regular belt that's ok, but you need a duty belt. From your post it sounds like you have an actual nylon duty belt. You wear your regular belt (should be black) under your duty belt through the pant loops. Make sure the regular belt is snug enough your pants won't fall down, but not so tight that it's uncomfortable when standing for long periods of time. Next you will need to go to a uniform store, or try http://www.galls.com/gaweb.dll. That link should show you several brands of nylon belt keepers (in sets of 4) that should match your gear. Now here's the trick. Make sure your duty belt is not too loose or too tight over your regular belt. Slide the keepers UNDER your REGULAR belt. Button them closed OVER your DUTY belt. You should have two in front and two in back, evenly spaced out. This will keep your belts securely fastened together around your waste, even when running. Also makes it very difficult for bad guys to take your duty belt off of you (and believe me, if you don't have keepers, there are those who know how). Everything should also stay in it's holsters better with maybe the exception of your flashlight depending on what kind you carry. I used to carry a rechargeable mag light. The darn thing always flipped out of it's carrying ring and fell to the ground if I sprinted. I had to get in the habit of carrying that in my hand while I ran. I now carry a Stinger LED in a leather holster and that is no longer a problem. If you take these steps, you should be able to run like the guy in Terminator (seriously! no hollywood tricks!). Thanks for the tips. Yeah I will get some belt keepers to better secure my two belts together then. Even though it is one of those keeperless velcro belt systems I guess I should still have the keepers as a precaution. Especially since I might get some higher risk contracts with the new security company I joined which is armed only instead of armed/unarmed like my previous employer. Which I worked unarmed most of the time. Which was stupied on my regular post because you weren't even aloud to carry OC Spray out at this factory security post I had not long ago. It was chicken shit because what the hell were we supposed to do if somebody came in shooting or needed to be detained so you guys could come and get them. Make the job alot easier for the police since they would already be neaturalized by me or other security officers. It was like that at General Motors which I worked a year for them with the worlds biggest security company Securitas Security International. I worked security at the Chevy Cobalt plant out at Lordstown Ohio and there dumb policy was that if anybody came in shooting we were just supposed to run or hide like everyone else and not try to take out the shooter. Which there again we were not aloud to have any weapons or handcuffs or nothing. I don't work for them anymore which I love being an armed officer with my love of guns

and it makes me feel safer. Yeah I have gotten off topic but just thought I would tell more about myself since I am new on here. Would love to be an LEO myself someday but things didn't quite work out with the academy. Went all the way through it and failed the last week despite passing every other damn thing even the practice exam. Maybe someday I will try again if some changes are made in Ohio. 273 hit it on the money. Keepers are the way to go. I work in the Housing Task Force Unit and we do a lot of running. In one of my foot chases, my radio flew out and almost hit me in the face. I usually keep it on my sam brown and have my speaker mic cliped on the front of my shirt clipped about 3 inches from my chin. At the time I didn't have the radio swivel holster that comes with the bungee strap w/button, after that incident I went ahead and got it.

Pant stay?

I have a problem similar to this except it's not from my gun belt falling out of my duty belt. I've lost some weight since last uniform issue and when i run, my whole entire belt and pant tends to fall down. When i was in the military, certain uniform had little sticky plastic material around the waist of the pant that would keep the shirt and pant bound to each other. Is there anything like that for police uniform to help my pant stay up? I don't want to wear those gaudy belt strap that goes to your shoulder, and i don't think we're allowed to wear them anyway.

I don't know of anything made to help hold your pants up other than suspenders. The rubber in the pants, or the separate rubber strips are made to help hold the shirt in the pants and prevent the bagginess at the back that results from movement.

You might try having the pants taken in a little, or just a tighter belt. I know how it is when you are losing weight and you don't want to buy new clothes because you are sitll losing weight, but you might have to do it now and again when you get to your desired weight.

Thanks for the prompt reply folks. You're right tho, i don't want to get whole new set of uniform until i drop at least 2 more waist size. Ill just tough it out until i get there then, thanks folks.

There is NOTHING worse than a person in uniform who looks like a slob, and who does not look professional in a uniform.....cops wearing beards? Bleck! Your uniform should look clean, pressed and it should fit properly. It should be tucked in so it looks like the person wearing it cares about his/her job. Hair should be cut, women should have their hair either short, or off the shirt collar. I don't know what has happened in the last 10 years or so, but there are too many people wearing uniforms who should not be in them. It looks disgraceful, and it is a reflection of the person wearing the uniform, but the agency who allows them to wear it in such a manner.  ALWAYS LOOK SHARP  AND  LOOK SQUARED AWAY PEOPLE!
