RE: LEOSA
Captain, you should have a pot luck after you qualify. I hear gun powder accents the flavor of baked beans. lol

RE: LEOSA
Has anyone heard if S.376 has come to a vote or passed? In MD. the form for certtification asks for either 15yrs of service or retired after completing probation due to a service connected disability.

RE: LEOSA
According to thomas.loc.gov it was supposedly put on the senate legislative calendar last September.
I would consider it dead for now.

Qualification
I was hoping the FOP National would address this problem. Is it me or am I the only retired Federal Immigration officer that can not find someone qualified to qualify me yearly. I know most officers would accept the badge and creds, but there are officers out there that have some sort of grudge with Federal people. I have spent 35 years in law enforcement, just received a carry permit which is good from here (NC) to Florida, but will not help on the drive to Boston. Has anyone any suggestion? Seems like they had good intentions when they passed this law, but probably known that qualifying would be a problem.

NC Qualifications
First, get your DHS retired ID, or use your old creds (which are now authorized as retired ID by DHS policy).
Get the forms by writing to ICE.leosa@dhs.gov
Summary of NC laws is here.
http://www.jus.state.nc.us/NCJA/ncfirearmslaws.pdf
You would have to check around as to who in NC can do qualifications to state standards, as DHS will not qualify retirees.
Check page 11 as to their qualification procedures, but you can probably just ask around. It is possible they may have other written materials as alluded to in the paragraph on retirees.
