February 2009: Santa Ana, California
Imagine you are one of three Santa Ana (Calif.) PD officers in a position to apprehend a man suspected of attempted murder on officers from nearby Long Beach PD. You've had little time to prepare an action plan and are working with an unfamiliar agency. Now ask yourself the following questions.
How often do you find yourself working with another law enforcement agnecy in resolving a situation? Do you fell you have adequate radio communicatinos between the two of you?
The officers and suspect involved in the shooting were all firing .40 caliber Glocks, with the suspect having the added advantage of laser sights. Do you use laser sights? If yes, how user friendly are they? If you do not use laser sights, why?
Given a scenario such as that facing the Santa Ana officers, what would you take under consideration to successfully contain the suspect and get him into some form of custody?
