November 2008 Flashlights

What's the best flashlight you've ever used for duty?

I guess I'd have to go with my Streamlight Twintask. 3C cell with 3 settings, 3blue LED, 6 blue LED, and 1 Xenon bulb. I liked the old 6C cell maglights because they made great impact weapons, but the last few years I used them the switch would burn our within 6 months. Plus, when you DID use it as an impact weapon more times then not the bulb would break. So, you'd go to the back-up bulb secured in the tailcap and find that IT was broken to. The weight was a bear when you directed traffic with it also, the Twintask doesn't have that problem.

I still carry my Streamlight SL35 and think it is the best. I have seen some new flashlights that may challenge it but I like the old fashioned proven technology sometimes.

I still like my Kel-Lite w/big head. Modified to take an LED bulb. Parts are tough to find but the old tank doesn't need much. I don't direct a lot of traffic anymore and found it to be a lost art around here.
My Dad bought it for me and had my name engraved on it. I drilled and tapped the end for a rifle sling swivel. The looped strap (not an entire sling) makes it easy to hang and keeps it attached to your wrist in case some perp wants to use it to whack you. Thor

I carry a baton, so I prefer my flashlight to be smaller. I find the rechargeable Streamlight Strion is working nice for me.

It's cool that you have a flashlight that is not only functionable, but sentimental.

smaller flashlights

Why hello GeboGirl...

Curious, does your gun have a tactical light on it?

Yeah...My holster is made to carry my gun with a tact light. I don't need a big light to search. I prefer a smaller one. If I need a light and my gun out at the same time, then with a tact light I'm not juggling all that stuff, which allows one hand free to do whatever I need to.
