July 2009: Arsenal -- Ruger Light Compact Revolver

Would you buy Sturm, Ruger & Co.'s LCR, which is a polymer-framed revolver? Are wheel guns still valuable, or do you think they should go the way of the dinosaur?

I doubt that i will buy this revolver. I like revolvers and would consier it, but I have never been a big fan of any of the compact revolvers. I like the S&W K frames (model 65/66 type) and the Ruger GP100. The concept of the polymer frame is interesting for a revolve, but it is nothing new to firearms.

I find a compact revolver too hard to comfrotably conceal due to the bulge of the cylinder. I can carry a compact semi-auto in the same size but much flatter and easier to conceal.

Guns - like 'em all, but I have to say that I don't really care for revolvers as well as semi-autos. For law enforcement, I think revolvers have gone the way of the dinosaur. Just based on the fact that we need more rounds to fire in a given shoot out situation before changing out. It's less distracting having less to worry about.

I do have to say that I knew a high up commander that carries a revolver in his pocket off duty. You would have no idea that he was carrying! They can get to be tiny little boogers.
