Obama and Law Enforcement

I don't fear much. We must remember that America has checks and balances that prevent certain ideals from latching and taking hold. From Obama's past track record, it sounds as if he will support law enforcement and what they need to continue to do. However, I do feel that the intelligence community might find their jobs quite so easy as it was under Bush. Obama's Administration comes across as strict in the sense of how clandestine activities will be carried out. Obama appears to be generous in his punishments and interrogations, meaning not one to be harsh.

Thyme will tell.

I don't think Obama will do much to directly affect law enforcement. He might even try to help by budgeting more for the DOJ to share with the cities. I do expect him to cut some of the Homeland Security funds (much of which has been misspent).

What I am concerned about is more general. I do not think his policies are going to be good for the country as a whole. This will affect law enforcement less directly by making it harder for us to work with the citizens. They will have less trust of the government and therefore less trust of the police.
