Thanks for the Kind Words
Captain:
Thank you for the kind words about the Website. We hope to have everybody LE approved as soon as possible. Yes, the holiday did delay the process. We appreciate your patience. As for archived forum threads. We looked into several ways to move the threads, but we couldn't get them to work with the new system. I thought about cutting and pasting them and posting them myself. However, that would have meant that the threads would have been posted under my name instead of the name of the original poster. So I chose not to do that. I am pleased to report that response in the new forum is growing very quickly, and I appreciate your interest in keeping on track. Our goal is to make it the premier community for law enforcement officers to discuss issues, tactics, jokes, and anything else they want to discuss.

.. <snip>
There were many of the formerly hot threads that I had hoped to continue to have as references but I unfortunately hadn't down-loaded them.
... <snip>
I echo that sentiment but not the praises about the "new and improved".. If "new" means we lose archives, having typos, having to reregister and "improved" means losing valuable references, having one hour to edit your posts, and losing one's profile, then I guess they were successful. Bravo.
the logo has changed as well.. now it has "community for cops" Not that anyone would care and some probably will say good ridance.. but I think it's time for me to move on since I don't fit that logo.
I have to say it's been fun and I really have high respect for many of you who spent your valuable time here, not compensated, dishing out good solid advice for the rookies from all disciplines. I salute all of you and wish you well --and I want to thank you-- because I know we are so busy that sometimes we cannot find time to thank people for their contribution. Trust me, I have nothing but respect for most of you. God Bless.
PS: I edited this so that our editor can see the word "editied" rather than "edited" on the bottom of the post :-) Last edited @ 5/29/2007 7:15 PM

RE: New Web-site Format
While I like the new look, the forum functionality has been seriously decreased.
The worst change, in my mind, is losing the ability to "view unread posts". That's been a staple of forum software for years; even the old forum had that option.
Not being able to view profiles or send email or private messages is also a downgrade.

RE: New Web-site Format
As with anything new, I'm sure most of the bugs and SNAFU's will be worked out in time. My only regret is, being a lowly rent-a-cop I won't be able to participate in some discussions as I used to. But I can understand why the editors would prefer sections for sworn officers instead of regular old arresting officers.

I would have to agree with Kevin on ALL of his points. This Forum is more difficult to use.
The other board showed the last poster....it was much easier to navigate and didn't look so busy. It is busy without providing needed information. It should show the newest posts on top. It should show the last post in the window of each section with date and time to know which thread is freshest. The old board lettering and color scheme provided a more comfortable read than this new board.
Sorry, but it sure seems like a couple steps backward. I noticed the posting activity is way down. That might tell you something as well.
Again agreeing with Kevin, it would be nice to see all the profiles again.
tnx
