Free book "Meditations on Violence" by Sgt. Rory Miller

Sgt. Rory Miller, an experienced martial artist and 14-year veteran police correction officer in Maximum Security and Booking, has written "Meditations on Violence, a Comparison of Martial Arts Training and Real World Violence" which will be published in June, 2008. Free copies are available, if you post your comments on Amazon.com. Limit of free copies: 30.

The book is about violence, especially about the difference between violence as it exists "in the wild or real world" and violence as it is taught in martial arts classes and absorbed through our culture. The author extracts what he has learned from jailhouse brawls, tactical operations and ambushes to explore the difference between martial arts and the subject martial arts were designed to deal with: Violence.

Author Rory Miller

I have had the opportunity to know, and train with Sgt. R. Miller for almost 10 years. He was one of the original members of the corrections CERT team, and the primary Defensive Tactics Instructor for our agency. Miller is known for his "intensive" training programs, and has a unique insight on violence. I am looking forward to reading the entire book.
