JGaffney - Don't over think this brother!! Yes, Taser has and will testify that Its products are not harmfull. However, to this point that testimony has been in the context of a LEO who has no intent to kill or injure the subject of the Tasing. I think you could thoroughly prove that intent would be present in a civilian Tasing a LEO.

Most commercial outlets selling Tasers do a background check to see if the person buying the device can be in possession of it.

Isishone, be careful about generalizations like that. They may be true for your home state, but it is certainly not true for mine. There are no restrictions on any citizen owning a Taser in Texas and no way for the stores to do a background check on the purchasers.
