RE: July 2008 In My Sights: Playing the Odds
My most common risk is driving too fast for conditions. I have slowed down, but still sometimes drive faster than the call truly justifies.
My second most common risk is canceling cover on calls. This is especially true for alarm calls that are regular false alarms, but I do it. I know better and try to never cancel cover, but I still do it when it is busy and a regular false alarm.

RE: July 2008 In My Sights: Playing the Odds
Problem is Steve, you never know if it's a false alarm until after the fact. http://www.thestate.com/local/story/481815.html Would royally suck to cancel back up only to realise the false alarm was for real....
Risks I've taken...well, as an armed Security officer I don't have back up which right there is a risk in and of itself. I've waded into fights and chased armed suspects a more prudent (read: smarter) person wouldn't have, and in some pretty bad neighborhoods. Personally, I don't like calling in PD unless I have a suspect in custody or hard evidence to turn over.
