February 2008 - Anti-Terrorism Intel for the Patrol Officer

I admit I am biased. I am a cop. I see terrorists as criminals and the cops should be handling it. I do not see them as soldiers or a military problem. So, I am a big fan of teaching patrol officers how to recognize terrorists and supproters of them. I think we need to give the officers more information on how they can help in this area.

One of the areas I am trying to arrange for training in for my agency is the spotting of terrorsim intel opportunities. I have found some training available in Houston from former Israeli agents. They have a class that teaches how to spot potential links to arabic terrorist organizations. It is not going to make our officers coutner-intel people, but it is enough to give them a hint so they know when to call the specialists if they see something.

How many of you know who to call or what could be a link to a terrorist organization? It is an areas we do need more training on.

Gang of cops...

Yes...cops can be viewed as criminals because we take away the pleasures of ill-gained money, sex, and self-indulgence that REAL criminals try to enjoy on the innocent's expense. Too bad.

Police officers will be the first line defense in terrorist attacks. We do need to be ready. I do think Israel can teach us a wealth of information and would enjoy hearing and being trained by ex-Israeli agents. They have been doing this longer than we have and I consider them the "Big Brother" when it comes to handling terrorists. As terrorists have united across the globe from different countries...so shall we unite in fighting people who have no remorse for blowing up and murdering innocent people.
